I need to admit I don’t know much about The Helio Sequence. But that hasn’t stopped me from listening to them non-stop since a friend passed me their link.
Here’s what I know. They’re a Portland, Oregon band (since 1999). They’re best friends Brandon Summers and Benjamin Weikel (Ben played drums and keys for Modest Mouse). Vocalist Brandon had to relearn to sing after severely damaging his vocal cords–a process that took years. They call Sub Pop home and their latest release, Keep Your Eyes Ahead is very, very good. Take a listen.
There is also a great interview and performance on NPR, via KEXP. And of course, they have a myspace page.
